How to sign a document without printing it
Printing a document just to sign it and then scan it is slow, wastes paper and the result often looks crooked. There's a quicker way that gives you a cleaner document.
In 30 seconds
- Sign on screen and send the document back in a minute: no printer, no scanner.
- An electronic signature doesn't lose validity for not being on paper (eIDAS, Article 25(1)).
- Always keep the signed copy that arrives in your inbox.
The old way vs the new way
| Print and scan | Sign on screen | |
|---|---|---|
| You need | A printer and a scanner | Your phone or computer |
| Time | 10–15 minutes | 1 minute |
| Result | A scanned copy, sometimes crooked | The original document, crisp |
| Sending it | Attach the scan | Download or send by email |

How to do it
- Open Sign for free and upload the document (PDF or photo).
- Choose "Me", tap "Add signature" and sign with your finger or mouse.
- Tap where the signature goes, tap "Finish" and download or send it.
What if several people have to sign?
If the document needs someone else's signature, send it to them from the same tool with the "Someone else" option: they get a link, sign on their phone and you receive the signed document. For businesses and organisations that send lots of documents, MultiDocs lets you send the same document to many people at once and see who has signed.
